Various types of wireless local loop technologies exist for the services of users, to provide the best facility of the internet broadband and also the old telephone connections. PTCL is using this technology for connecting the users to the public switched Telephone network (PSTN), just by using radio signals as an alternative of the expensive copper wires. The big advantage of the wireless local loop system is also the cordless access to the networks. That is the reason the WLL is sometimes known as the radio in the loop (RITL). The big advantage of the wireless local loop is the bandwidth availability, as compared to the copper wires. In short, the wireless local loop technology is best for the areas where there is no infrastructure to bring the wires for the telephone connections. PTCL in its long life journey has achieved many milestones. One such benchmark that this big organization has created is the best use of wireless local loop.

All the necessities that were come in the path of the PTCL is the making of the well established network to the remote areas, hence the use of this wireless technology has brought some really good achievements in making the remote area connect to the whole world. The WLL system is based on a full-duplex radio network that provides local telephone-like service among a group of users. The WLL unit consists of a radio transceiver and the WLL interface assembled in one metal box. Two cables and a telephone connector are the only outlets from the box; one cable connects to a directional antenna and a phone receptacle to connect to a common telephone set. A fax or modem could also be connected for fax or computer communication.

The launch of the GO CDMA WLL service would revolutionize the way people communicate in Pakistan as the quality and services are much better and not to forget the rates. It was a good breakthrough by PTCL. TeleCard has also completed a 3rd generation Wireless communication technology by commercializing the country’s first CDMA 2000 1X service. TeleCard has also got LDI (Long Distance and International) license, and will be one of the carriers competing with PTCL. LDI will be a value added service by TeleCard which will offer international calling to consumers in a different and better way. This renowned telecom company has also brought the revolution in the market by allowing incoming calls on local PCO also called ‘Foree Fone’. TeleCard has more than 40,000 GO CDMA connections active in the market and more than 50,000 active connections both wire line and wireless. TeleCard also has approximately 3 switching facilities with over 150 cell sites and its network reaches over 800 cities and towns.
